Declaration of Disaster

WHEREAS, the County of Angelina, Texas, on the 27th day August 2017 was in imminent threat of widespread or sever damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from countywide conditions created by torrential rainfall and severe thunderstorms with high speed winds and tornadic activity over an excessive period of time, affecting Angelina County by causing flooding in populated areas and along the corridors of the Angelina and Neches Rivers and their tributaries in Angelina County, as well as major infrastructure damage preventing access to, or the safe passage on, many roadways and bridges. Such conditions created a public safety hazard.

WHEREAS, the County Judge of Angelina County, Texas, has determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to protect life, as well as protect or rehabilitate property, are necessary and hereby ordered.





  1. That a local state of disaster is hereby declared for Angelina County, Texas, pursuant to Section 418.108(a) of the Texas Government Code.
  2. Purusant to Section 418.108(b) of the Texas Government Code, the state of disaster shall continue for a period of not more than seven days from the date of this declaration unless continued or renewed by the Commissioners' Court of Angelina County, Texas.
  3. Pursuant to Section 418.108(c) of the Texas Government Code, this declaration of a local disaster shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be files promptly with the County Clerk.
  4. Pursuant to Section 418.108(d) of the Texas Government Code, this declaration of a local state of disaster activates the Angelina County Emergency Management Plan.
