EXPOSITION CENTER – GROUNDS KEEPER LEVEL 1

Position: Grounds Keeper Level I

Department: Exposition Center

Starting Salary: $37,440 to $40,508 per year, depending on experience

General Description:

Under the general supervision of the Director of the Angelina County Exposition Center, the Groundskeeper Level I performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks necessary to support the daily operations, maintenance, and appearance of the Exposition Center and its grounds. This position is responsible for assisting with event setup and breakdown, maintaining the facility and surrounding grounds, operating maintenance equipment, and ensuring the property remains clean, safe, and presentable for guests, exhibitors, and event participants.

Groundskeeper I employees perform routine maintenance and custodial duties, including but not limited to cleaning restrooms, fixtures, windows, and common areas; maintaining landscaping; collecting litter; and assisting with general repairs as assigned. This position requires the safe operation of various tools, equipment, and machinery used in grounds maintenance and event support.

The Groundskeeper I regularly interacts with event promoters, vendors, exhibitors, contractors, and the general public. Employees are expected to represent the Angelina County Exposition Center in a professional, courteous, and customer-focused manner at all times.

Because the Exposition Center operates as a public event venue, employees must be available to work a flexible schedule, including daytime, evening, weekend, holiday, and emergency call-out hours as required to support scheduled events and facility operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Knowledge and ability to operate a wide variety of grounds keeping machines, equipment and tools
  • Knowledge and ability to operate a tractor with a variety of implements to maintain grounds
  • Knowledge and ability to perform general routine maintenance on tractors and small engine equipment
  • Ability to climb ladders or use scissor lifts to access, maintain or setup overhead structures
  • Ability to learn and follow instructions for correct use of chemicals and supplies
  • Knowledge of basic math calculations to count and deliver shavings
  • Ability to follow instructions and to complete tasks while working independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to interact with co-workers, patrons and the general public, including inmate crew in a professional manner
  • Perform additional duties as required or assigned

JOB TITLE:        Full-time Juvenile Supervision Officer (Not probation)

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Angelina County Juvenile Supervision Officer’s primary responsibility is the supervision of the daily activities of detained juveniles and to ensure the personal safety of each resident, their co-worker(s), and themselves while on duty in the Detention Center.

The Supervision Officer, under the supervision of the Superintendent of Detention or the Designated Facility Administrator will direct the activities of detained youth in all areas of programming.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Security: A supervision officer is responsible for maintaining a maximum-security environment. This includes keeping detention keys on your person at all times. A supervision officer shall be responsible for making sure all doors and windows are secure throughout the shift.
  • Safety: A supervision officer shall be sure all juveniles and staff are safe. All staff should be constantly aware of a child’s moods and behaviors to determine possible risks of injury, suicide, or escape. A supervision officer must attempt to prevent and/or intervene in any crisis that may arise at the detention center.
  • A supervision officer is responsible for proper documentation in the communication log, intake packets, incident reports, etc.
  • Supervision officers are responsible for ensuring that each child is served proper meals as approved by a licensed dietician.
  • Supervision officers are responsible for following all shift responsibilities and ensuring the building is well-maintained and clean.
  • Supervision officers are responsible for knowing and following all policies and procedures, written and unwritten. Detention staff is responsible for any duty directed by the Superintendent or Chief of Juvenile Services.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required: Must be US Citizen

  • Required: Satisfactory results on a drug test following a conditional employment offer

ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY – CRIMINAL

 The Angelina County District Attorney’s Office is accepting applications for the position of Assistant District Attorney. The District Attorney’s Office is comprised of seven attorneys, two investigators, six support staff and the opportunity to be assigned to high level cases immediately.

Summary

Primarily responsible for competently seeking justice in criminal matters in Angelina County, Texas.

Individuals in the position serve at the pleasure of the current elected official.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates professionally with other staff, community partners, law enforcement, court staff, witnesses, and victims.
  • Performs intake review of cases submitted by law enforcement.
  • Drafts indictments, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Presents felony cases to the grand jury.
  • Prepares for and appears for jail call, dockets, motion hearings, jury trials, bench trials, and punishment hearings.
  • Formulates plea offers and engages in meaningful plea negotiations with the defense bar.
  • Prepares for bench and jury trials independently and with trial teams, including, but not limited to reviewing evidence, preparing witnesses, preparing exhibits, and identifying any areas of follow-up that may be needed.
  • Conducts thorough research on legal issues and presents arguments that are factually and legally supported.
  • Prepares and responds to appeals.
  • Plans and completes work within set deadlines.
  • Appears for civil proceedings as needed.

JAILER (FULL AND PART-TIME)

Angelina County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Jailer.  This posting will remain open until positions are filled.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Department is looking for positive, proactive, energetic, enthusiastic individuals who support our core principles of professionalism, community, safety, and service to fill the position of Jailer.

This position will be responsible for providing care, custody and control over the inmates remanded to the Sheriff’s jurisdiction. Jailers are required to effectively communicate accurately and completely.  Positions that are part-time positions normally consist of no more than 29 hours per week.  This particular position will also be assigned to a night-time shift. Full-time positions may be day or night shifts, depending on the need. Each Jailer reports to the assigned supervisor and Lieutenant and follows the chain of command.
